Every year we get a long weekend in April for Good Friday, and we go for outings. In 2019 also we had a plan to visit somewhere because this year we got 4 days of holidays and if needed we can arrange more leave. But some friends canceled their tour and the final day came. But for some urgent office work, I canceled the tour. I need to go to the office on Good Friday. But in the evening my friend Prabir Bera called me and asked me to go somewhere for the weekend. I told him for two days we can go to Hatu Peak Trek.
Back Home and packing the bag and leaving for the trek. Actually, my bag is always half ready for any tour like me. We leave home around 8pm, go to ISBT Kashmiri gate and take a bus for Shimla around 10:30.
Day 1: Reached Shimla around 6 am, we informed the bus conductor that we want to go to Narkenda which is 70km from Shimla towards Chail, and the bus conductor helped us to get the bus. The bus was empty, after 2 hours we had seen some white things covering some areas, but it was a long distance. So we could not understand what this was. When we came near the place, we understood this is a white net which is covered by apple trees to protect from snow.
We reach Narkenda around 9am, this is a very good place where people used to go and stay and so many places. We take our breakfast and start our trek around 10am. So many people go to the Hatu Peak by personal or local car. After 1km we left the main road, there were three roads. But the middle road is the way to visit Hatu Peak.
After some time we entered the forest area, and when we got a long distance, there were so many apple gardens which were covered by the white net. This is the Kinnaur district, which is one of the richest districts of India and these apple gardens help to become one of the richest districts of india.
After another 2 km we reached the maggi point, there is a small man made lake and small valley and shop, where you get maggi and tea. The reflection into the water was very crystal clear. We stay sometimes, and again start our Journey. After 500 meters we got some snow covered areas on the road side.
Around 1:30 pm we reached Hatu Peak. This is a very beautiful place where a wooden Kali Mata temple is situated. The temple is very good, this is also called Hatu Mata Temple. You can get nearly 360 views, also local people believe Pandavs visited here on their agyatvas. We found a place for camp. We took a 30 min rest inside the tent, then we went outside and visited the temple.
There are no sources of water, so water is supplied from the village by car. Actually there is a pipe system to supply water, but in the winter session that goes frozen. We requested a person who supplied water into the temple and he helped us to get water. We got a very good sunset, so many people visited here by car. They also left the top, now only we two and some people inside a room beside the temple.
We made our dinner and finished dinner. We sat near the bonfire, and suddenly we saw 8-9 dogs come from the jungle side. We finished our dinner, so we gave some biscuits to the dogs. After 5 min one aged person came on the same route. When we asked for his destination, he told us to visit the temple after sometimes he went to another village.
Day 2: We go outside and visit the temple, back to the camp and its packing time. Around 9am we started our trek, and around 11:20am we reached Narkenda. Finished our lunch and got on the bus to reach Shimla. Visited Shimla Kali Mandir and Mall road. Then back to Shimla bus stand to get a bus for Delhi.
