Why did we Choose Prashar Lake?
There are so many reasons we have chosen Prashar lake trek, first of all I believe that if anyone is interested in visiting the Himalaya, then please read Indian mythology. Then your interest should automatically grow. So many people can say, they do not believe in that, it's not an issue. But when he/she should know about the mythology or history of that place, then the visitor can enjoy more.
As per Indian mythology, Rishi Prashar visited here with Pandavas and he decided to stay here. Then Bhim built the lake and made an ashram, known as Parashar Ashram and the lake known as Prashar Lake. And also this is a very beautifull place where you can visit on weekends and for whole years. You can then enjoy dense forest, lake, and also there are bus services to reach Prashar lake.
It was Decembar 2015, we have no long weekend holiday, but the first January was on sunday. Everyone used to enjoy the new year, but I try to welcome the new year on my bed as half sleep. But this year we decided that we can go somewhere, but we have no holiday, and in a short time we decided on the place. But definitely this is not fully correct that we decide the place only for a short time, we chose the place for the beautiness and the history or mythology of the palace.
We took a bus from Majnu ka Tilla, Delhi to Mandi, Himachal Pradesh around 8pm after office, with my other three friends. And around 6 am we reached Mandi, Himachal Pradesh and this is the route to reach Manali. After fresh at the bus stop, we took a bus for Jwalapur Village. Around 10 am we reach the trekking point, which is around 1 km before Jwalapur Village. If any one doesn't want to trek, then there is one bus which goes directly to Prashar lake and has a lodge, where are the staying options.
There are some shops available and beside the place a river passes and here the road crosses the river. We took breakfast and packed lunch for the route, because this is the last shop on this route. We crossed the river and started our trekking towards the source of the river. After one kilometer we took the road which was starting to build a new road. And after 500 meter we leave the road and enter the fully forested area.
We have decided that we clean the road, start collecting the plastics on the way and enjoy nature. When we got to a less dense forest and were able to see the surrounding area, this was an awesome view. There are so many small but beautiful villages in this area, where communication is very tough but I know peace is there. Sometimes I feel like leaving everything and going to that village for a few days.
This is a small trek, so we carefully collect the plastics and move a little bit slowly. And around 2 pm we got to an empty place and the sun ray was coming. After so much time we could get the sunray due to the dense forest, so we sat here and finished our lunch.
We again started our trekking and we decided that now we have to go a little bit first, because this whole trek you can go within 4-5 hours. So we decided to collect the leftover plastic on our return time, and around 3:30pm we reached the long awaited Prashar lake.
First we find a place for camp. There are already so many fixed camps, so we decided on a place which is some distance from the ashram and the other Camp. We have started camping, but as this is winter time, the sun set timing is around 5 pm. So we leave the place and find the nearest top place from where we can enjoy the sunset. And we took some snaps of sunset and the Ashram with the lake. In the lake you can see a small island which is moving. So don’t be upset when you see the different positions of the same island. We went back to our tent place and quickly finished out camping, at the time one solo trekker came there asking where he could camp.
We suggest that he can camp beside our tent. And within sometime the temperature is going down and we go inside the tent. Around 8pm we went to collect some wood to the fixed camp area for cooking, but they wanted to provide the wood but we had to pay a huge price. Then we went back and it was full moon night, nearly everything was visible, and we collected some small dry grass and started our cooking. Today’s menu is maggi soup, green tea and a ready-made burger. We call the solo trekker, and he enjoys the food with us. After that we slept, but outside people are enjoying the New Year.
Day 2: Early in the morning we go to the top and enjoy the view of the place, after that we visited the Ashram. Then back to the tent and pack the tent and now is the time to return. Before returning again we visit the temple and start our journey around 11am and collect the plastics. Around 1:30 we reached the Jwalapur bus stand but we missed the bus for 10 min and people told us that next but it was around 3pm.
We took lunch and waited for the bus, and around 3pm we got on the bus and went to Mandi. We rented a car for Delhi.
